Never Mind The Bollocks...

Sex Pistols
Sex Pistols

On this day in 1976, the Sex Pistols made a notorious appearance on the Today Show in the U.K., tangling with host Bill Grundy. There was very little the pioneering punk quartet did during its all-too-brief original lifespan that didn't engender controversy. Their sole studio album, NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S THE SEX PISTOLS was banned by many major British retailers – but debuted at No.1 on the U.K. chart anyway. With such explosive anthems as “Anarchy In The U.K.,” “God Save The Queen,” “Pretty Vacant” and “Holidays in The Sun” among its dozen songs, the album has a snotty power that cannot be denied. Named by the likes of NME, Rolling Stone and Time as one of the 100 greatest albums ever made, NEVER MIND THE BOLLOCKS, HERE'S THE SEX PISTOLS likely inspired ten people for every one it offended.
