Instant Gratification: The Cars, “Coming Up You Again”

A few weeks back, we let you in on a bit of information that’s in no way a secret at this point: on March 30, Rhino will be releasing expanded editions of two classic Cars albums: SHAKE IT UP and HEARTBEAT CITY.  They’re being issued on both CD and LP, not to mention digitally, and they’ll include the 2016 remastered versions of the original albums, rare and previously-unreleased bonus tracks, and illustrated booklets featuring new interviews with Ric Ocasek and David Robinson as well as liner notes by noted rock critic David Fricke. 

Not a bad way to celebrate the band’s upcoming induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, eh?

When we talked up these reissues in early February, we tried to help you endure the interminable wait for March 30 by providing you with the opportunity to check out the demo for “Drive,” which you’ll find on the expanded HEARTBEAT CITY. The closer it gets to the release date, though, the harder it gets to wait for these reissues to get there, so we thought we’d do a little something else for you.
