Out Now: Aretha Franklin, THIS CHRISTMAS

There’s no law that says you can’t yet start playing Christmas music, and if you’re someone who likes to start their yuletide soundtrack as soon as possible, then here’s something you might want to add to this year’s playlist: Rhino has just released Aretha Franklin’s 2008 holiday album on vinyl for the first time.

Entitled THIS CHRISTMAS, the nine-track album features Franklin tackling a mixture of Christmas classics and similarly-themed tunes that you may never have heard before, but they’re all designed to help you enjoy the holiday season as much as possible. Given that this is the first year any of us have had to celebrate the Christmas season without the Queen of Soul in the world with us, it’s arguable that it’s gonna be a hard one to get through, but putting these tracks on your turntables will certainly help make your spirits brighter than they might otherwise be.
