Can I order or request or reserve a Rhino Handmade title with a specific imprinted number?

Sorry, Rhino Handmade individually numbered titles are supplied at random as picked and packed by the folks who fulfill your order. They start with the lowest available number and work upwards until the edition pressing limit is sold out.

How, and where, are Rhino Handmade titles actually numbered?

We apply an 'edition-style' number to each and every individual item. An edition-style number looks like, for example, "1562/2500". This example would signify that the item it was printed on was the 1562nd of a limited edition of 2500 copies. On Rhino Handmade releases contained in a standard jewelcase, the individual number may be found on the inside CD spine. The outside CD spine is the one that has the Rhino Handmade 'RHM2' catalogue number as well as the artist and title printed upon it. The inside CD spine is the other one. On this inside CD spine there will be the UPC number, the UPC barcode and the words 'Numbered Limited Edition.' You will find the individual number just to the right of the words 'Numbered Limited Edition.'

On Rhino Handmade releases contained in something other than a standard jewelcase, the individual number will always be found on whatever part of the paper goods features this UPC number, this UPC barcode and the words 'Numbered Limited Edition.'

On Rhino Handmade Found Objects the individual number will always be found imprinted next to the words 'Numbered Limited Edition' on a sticker affixed to the shrinkwrap on the outside of the package.

ATTENTION COLLECTORS OF THE DOORS' BRIGHT MIDNIGHT RELEASES:
Bright Midnight Records is THE DOORS' own record label and features previously unreleased recordings from THE DOORS' own archives. However, unlike Rhino Handmade label releases, Bright Midnight Records releases are NOT individually numbered and are NOT limited editions.

How do I know when my Rhino Handmade order will ship?

In the top right-hand column of any product page, beneath the notice of the individually numbered edition limit will be the date that release begins shipping. If this line says something like 'Pre-orderable Now For Shipments Beginning...' followed by a specific date, then this means that we are accepting pre-orders, and that that release will be available for shipment on the date shown. For example, 'Pre-orderable Now For Shipments Beginning 29 February 2002' means that you may order now if you wish, but that the release will not begin shipping until 29 February 2002. If this line says 'Available Now For Immediate Shipment,' it means exactly that: there is stock on hand, and the release will ship to you as soon as your order is fully processed.

How do people who do not have access to the Internet order Rhino Handmade titles?

The easiest and most reliable way to order from Rhino Handmade is by using a credit card on the Rhino Handmade website. We recommend the use of a credit card for both the protection it affords you and the ability it affords the Rhino Order Center to trace a transaction should something go amiss.

However, you may call the Rhino Order Center at (888) 440-4232 to place your order and pay by any method accepted by the Rhino Order Center (credit card or check card only). If you live in the U.S. and choose to call Rhino to order something, please make sure you first have all of the exact details (Artist, Title and Catalogue Number) of the Rhino Handmade title you want. You can get all of these exact details from the Rhino Handmade website at http://www.rhinohandmade.com.

How do customers who live outside the U.S. and U.S. territories order Rhino Handmade titles?

Most, but not all, Rhino Handmade titles are available for shipment to addresses outside of the U.S. and U.S. territories. There is a separate international non-U.S. 'Ship To' order form that must be filled out to ship to addresses outside the U.S. and U.S. territories. After you click on the 'Buy This' link, you will be taken to the 'Shopping Cart' page. Once you make your selection, or selections, you will then click the red 'Check Out' button.

You will then be taken to the Order Center 'Security' Page. The default 'First Time Shopper' Ship To status on this page is for 'U.S. or U.S. Territories.' To get to the proper international 'Ship To' page, just click on the circle next to the 'Non U.S. Address' entry and then click the 'First Time Shopper' link. This will take you to the Order Center 'Shipping Info' Page.

After you have completed entering all of the 'Shipping Info' details, click on the bright red 'Check Out' link at the bottom of the page. After you have entered your credit card details, scroll down a bit and then click the bright red 'Check Out' button at the bottom of this page. This will initiate the order process and provide you with an e-mailed confirmation number. You should keep this information for reference until your parcel arrives.

We remind you that customers who order Rhino Handmade titles from outside the U.S. will be responsible for any and all import taxes, tariffs and duties which may be levied by your customs authorities.

You presently take pre-orders for all of your releases. I don't mind placing a pre-order, but when exactly will you bill my credit card if I do?

Your credit card will NOT be billed until your Order is actually shipped to you. So this means that no matter how far in advance of the ship date you place your order, the instruction to bill your credit card does not occur until the day your order is actually shipped to you by the friendly folks at the Rhino Order Center.

I placed a single order that includes a combination of one or more of your releases marked as 'Available Now For Immediate Shipment' as well as one or more marked as 'Pre-Orderable Now.' Do I need a doctorate in applied physics to know when this order will ship?

You shouldn't. The Rhino Order Center will HOLD THE ENTIRE ORDER until the release date of the 'Pre-Orderable Now' Item. To avoid any delays in shipping 'Available Now For Immediate Shipment' items, you might want to ORDER THEM SEPARATELY from any of the 'Pre-orderable Now' items. That way the separately ordered 'Available Now For Immediate Shipment' Items will ship to you immediately.

My palms begin to sweat when I think about using my credit card number on the Internet. Should they?

When you input a credit card number on the Rhino Order Center Payment Information Page, the credit card number is encoded in 40-bit SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption. This 40-bit SSL encryption is the most practical for use when balancing the needs of both security and quick processing speed. Bank Of America processes all of the Rhino Order Center credit card orders. When customer transactions are transferred between Rhino and Bank of America, 128-bit SET (Secure Electronic Transaction) encryption is used. This is the highest level of encryption currently available for e-commerce. Using 40-bit SSL encryption on the Rhino Payment Information Page allows orders to be processed in an average of about 30 seconds. If Rhino were to use 128-bit encryption of this page, order processing would take about four times as long, or an average of about two minutes. Accordingly, Rhino has decided to utilize the highest practical level of encryption appropriate for each step of the process.

The Time Warner Order Center presently accepts credit card payments made by Visa, MasterCard, Discover/Novus and American Express, Diners Club, Carte Blanche.

How can I tell what the shipping and handling charge for my order will be before I actually place the order?

To see the three different Rhino Handmade shipping and handling rate charts (U.S., Canada, everywhere else) before you order, please go to the Rhino Customer Service page and click on the 'Shipping' link.

Or, if you prefer, you can go directly to the Shipping And Handling Charge Rate Charts here. This will take you to all three Rhino Handmade shipping and handling rate charts covering order totals up to $500.00 (U.S.)

Shipping and handling charges for order totals greater than $500.00 (U.S.) increase proportionally and can only be seen once you arrive at the Rhino 'Payment Info' page during the actual order process. After seeing any shipping and handling charge on the Rhino 'Payment Info' page during the actual order process, you are, of course, not obliged to complete that order should you not wish.

Rhino Handmade shipping and handling charges are calculated to cover the actual costs we incur in processing your order.

I placed an order but did not receive my order confirmation by return e-mail. How can I confirm that my order has been accepted and is being processed?

There are three ways to contact the our Order Center to confirm order status or to resolve any problems you are having with placing an order. Use the one that is most convenient for you.

    Rhino Order Center E-Mail:
    aeccd@aent.com
    Rhino Toll-Free Telephone In USA:
    (888) 440-4232
BETWEEN 9:00 AM AND 9:00PM EASTERN TIME MONDAY TIME MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY EXCEPT, OF COURSE, ON U.S. HOLIDAYS

Please include your order confirmation number (it's usually a six-digit number from your Order Confirmation e-mail reply) in any communication you have with Rhino about your order.

If you DO NOT HAVE an order confirmation number, then please be sure to include as much specific order information (such as your name, your address, and the artist and title of each item ordered) as possible about your order so that Rhino will know precisely what you are enquiring about.

THE RHINO ORDER CENTER CAN ONLY ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT YOUR ORDER STATUS OR ABOUT PROBLEMS YOU ARE HAVING PLACING AN ORDER. The Rhino Order Center has no information about upcoming Rhino Handmade releases. The Order Center does not accept Suggestions for Rhino Handmade releases. The Order Center does not have anything to do with the Rhino Handmade Mailing List. And The Order Center cannot connect you with The Archivists at Rhino Handmade. To do these things, read the other FAQs on this page.

What do I do to cancel a Rhino Handmade order that has not yet shipped?

If for any reason you wish to cancel an existing order or cancel one particular item from an existing order, you may quickly do so in one of the following ways:

If you live IN THE UNITED STATES you may send an e-mail to the Rhino Order Center at aeccd@aent.com and request an Order Cancellation.

You will need to provide them with your order confirmation number (usually a six-digit number from your Order Confirmation e-mail reply). If you do not have an order confirmation number, then please be sure to include as much specific order information (such as your name, your address, and the artist and title of each item ordered) as possible so that Rhino will know precisely what you are enquiring about.

If you live IN THE UNITED STATES you may also telephone the Rhino Order Center toll-free at (888) 440-4232 and provide this same information. If you live OUTSIDE THE UNITED STATES you should send an e-mail to the Rhino Order Center at aeccd@aent.com and request an order cancellation, providing your order confirmation number and the other identifying details listed above.

PLEASE NOTE: To be effective, order cancellations for new releases that have not yet shipped to anyone must be placed 3 (three) days prior to the posted 'Pre-Orderable Now For Shipments Beginning' date.

On the Web pages for your titles you list approximate track times, but on the CDs you make you don't list any times at all. Don't you people know the true length of the tracks?

Very often, the films needed to print the paper goods for our titles are prepared before the tracks have been mastered for compact disc. It is only as a byproduct of this mastering process that exact tracks times (those track times which exactly match the times encoded into the compact disc) are available. So, as a result, we think it is better to have no times printed on our packages than have the wrong times printed. Similarly, we think it is better to post approximate times on our Web pages rather than no times so that collectors can get an idea of track length and which version we've selected for inclusion.

Why do you offer only QuickTime media files?

We decided to use QuickTime exclusively because we were singularly impressed by its ability to handle the types and sizes of streaming files Rhino Handmade intends to provide. In addition, the additional built-in functions within QuickTime, such as picture viewers and audio and video players which work with dozens of differently formatted files, as well as QuickTime's VR capacity really appealed to us. Lastly, QuickTime is easy to install, and its most current version is available for both Windows PC Operating Systems and Apple Macintosh Operating Systems. And, most importantly, it's available for free download.

Go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ for system requirements, precise download and installation details, and see if QuickTime is for you. If it is, just follow the simple downloading instructions.

I already have QuickTime installed on my computer, yet I cannot play any of your QuickTime audio and video files. What should I do?

You should go to http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/ to reinstall QuickTime so that your computer will have the most current, up-to-date version.

The small installation program you download will also upgrade older versions of QuickTime to the most current, up-to-date version. In the very unlikely event you continue to have problems after installing the most current, up-to-date version of QuickTime, you can pop on over to The Quicktime Help Page for assistance.

Do you really read the comments that are left in the suggestion box?

Yes, we do. Every one of them.

How do I add my e-mail address to your Rhino Handmade mailing list?

To subscribe to our Rhino Handmade Early Warning e-mail list and be the first on your block to know everything, please go here and type your e-mail address into the box provided.

How do I remove my e-mail address from the Rhino Handmade mailing list?

To unsubscribe from the Rhino Handmade e-mail list, simply go here and type your e-mail address into the box provided.

Do you really delete each Rhino Handmade title after you sell your announced edition limit?

Yes, we do. Once the announced individually numbered, limited-edition pressing of a given title has been sold out, it will no longer be manufactured by Rhino Handmade.

Does this mean that Rhino Handmade will never re-release a Rhino Handmade title that has been deleted?

Rhino Handmade will be the only source for these individually numbered limited editions. For each title we announce edition pressing limits that we think will cover all of the waiting collectors. But it is conceivable that we would, at some point, discover that an announced edition limit falls so short of demand that a refusal to re-release would represent a grave injustice.

Hey I've noticed some Handmade titles in the racks at my local record store. What gives?

Rhino Handmade has now made its catalog (and future releases) available for distribution in retail outlets besides www.rhinohandmade.com. These titles are taken from the original numbered, limited edition batches that Rhino Handmade produces. If a title is no longer available through www.rhinohandmade.com, you can now look for it at your local record shop.

Our future releases will be exclusively available through www.rhinohandmade.com for 60 days after their initial release. During this period of exclusivity, no CDs will be reserved for retail distribution. So if a title sells out in the first 60 days after its initial release, that's all she wrote!

If you have questions about how Rhino Handmade operates, or have a question about your order that the Rhino Order Center has not been able to answer, you are welcome to send an e-mail with your question to drrhino@rhino.com. We will modify this FAQ page from time to time to add the most relevant questions, which have been submitted along with our answers.
