Wilco SUMMERTEETH DELUXE Cover

After emerging from the rubble following the breakup of Son Volt, Wilco released their opening music salvo in 1995 with A.M., following that well-received debut the following year with their even more rapturously reviewed sophomore effort, BEING THERE. A slight delay would occur before the band was able to put out their third album, but they had a good excuse, namely their collaboration with Billy Bragg on some previously-unreleased Woody Guthrie lyrics (MERMAID AVENUE), but when that third Wilco album finally hit record store shelves... Oh, baby!

SUMMERTEETH – the third album in question – celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, and Rhino has just released a deluxe edition of the album...and we mean we just released it.

Like, it’s out today.

If you’re a fan of the band and you somehow managed to miss our previous coverage of its then-still-impending release, you might want to pick up a bib, because your mouth is about to start watering...

It’s a 4-CD set which includes a newly-remastered version of the album (thank you, Bob Ludwig), a disc full of previously-unreleased alternate versions, demos, and studio outtakes, and a two-disc live performance which was recorded on November 1, 1999 at the Boulder Theater in Colorado during the SUMMERTEETH tour.

There’ll also be a limited-edition vinyl version released on the same day, one which will be limited to 6,500 copies, and please note: it does not contain the Boulder Theater show. On the other hand, it does contain a different live performance, one recorded during the band’s in-store performance at Tower Records in Chicago.

Pretty awesome, right? Well, just wait ‘til you see what else is on this thing...and once you’ve seen it, go pick up a copy for yourself!
