It’s Wednesday, so it must be time to take another dip into the Rhino catalog and trot out a new quartet of cover songs that you may or may not have heard before. Let’s get started, shall we?

•    Morrissey, “That’s Entertainment” (1991): Never one to shy away from his influences, Morrissey put this Jam tune on his KILL UNCLE single “Sing Your Life,” and while many accused him of slowing it down to an annoying degree, it still managed to introduce a generation of American Morrissey fans to The Jam, so we’re calling it a win.

•    Delain, “Smalltown Boy” (2013): This Dutch symphonic metal band released a compilation album (INTERLUDE) which included this Bronski Beat track as well as their takes on songs by Talk Talk (“Such a Shame”) and the Cranberries (“Cordell”).

•    Fats Domino, “Lovely Rita” (1968): During the course of his brief stint on Reprise Records, the esteemed Mr. Domino released three Beatles covers. This was one of them, and you can find his take on “Everybody’s Got Something to Hide Except for Me and My Monkey” elsewhere on this playlist, so don’t be surprise if you see his version of “Lady Madonna” show up at some future juncture.

•    Faith No More, “Easy” (1992): Originally released as a standalone single in 1992, this Commodores cover eventually found its way to being tacked onto the end of the band’s ANGEL DUST album. That’s probably because it remains the band’s biggest UK hit, having climbed all the way to #3.
